There is a good chance that at the beginning of this year’s Fall the Dutch Media Authority will decide in favor of a popular Dutch weblog to become a public broadcasting organization. Every five years existing public broadcasting associations are given a chance to magnify their television airtime by showing the Media Authority an increased amount of members. At the same time transmitting wannebees are offered the possibility to become authorized broadcasters on the populous Dutch public service television channels for at least the next five years.

Our mobile phones are audio devices first and foremost; but you will be hard pressed to believe that these days. Wireless carriers advertising on TV or with full-page newspaper ads, trends of the mobile industry at various wireless trade shows, advertising newsletters, and mobile industry web sites will make you believe that we are all busy surfing the internet, keying in Google searches from our mobile phones and receiving relevant ads to our mobile phones. No need for talking anymore; Facebook, email and text messages are taking over.

Before there was internet people somehow managed to meet each other so once in a while. Since the digital revolution took place it is barely imaginable how people were able to arrange meetings and exchanged information in any organized way taking the Jurassic tools they were using into account. It seems ages ago that worrying about your profile going around in cyber space or exchanging documents in a mouse click were only actual for captain Kirk and his Enterprise buddies. And even in their reality Kirk, Spock and Scotty arranged face-to-face conferences at captain’s bridge to deal with endless upcoming surreal encounters.
