I live in a pretty big neighborhood. There are thousands of houses, which means people in all different ages, walks of life, interests etc. Some people play tennis, some do golf, so have small kids, some play cards, some knit, while others watch football.
So instead of having events tailored to everybody... we developed small social groups to fit specific interests. The first Monday of the month is Bingo night. So everyone who likes that game comes. So you pair up with people with common interests.
This is exactly what the Internet and Social Media have lined up.
A micro community is basically a group of people with common interests, thoughts & ideas... It is not Macro, because even though Community Marketing Blog has a huge following, it is still based around the niche of Marketing, PR, Branding, Social Media etc. There is a very certain group of people that will be attracted to this group. It is not for everyone. If you are looking for car reviews or tax advice, this will not be your place.
Small is the new big... The world is becoming smaller because everything is going to be customized to your wants, needs and interests. No matter how specific your interest is, you can find it on the Internet. Ebay’s popularity is built around this whole concept.
Our goal is to be the best in the world at sharing and collaborating around Marketing.
I am excited to be a part of this micro community. Join us.
