I'm looking for more stories from businesses like you that have been able to generate direct or indirect monetizable results with your social media programs. Please share what your success was, how your company achieved it and any other helpful insights.
All of these stories will be considered for my book on social media monetization from a marketing perspective. I'm honoured to be writing for Pearson, one of the world's leading media and publishing businesses and thrilled to be able to share exceptional stories from companies like yours.
Many fabulous LinkedIn members have shared their success stories already, thank-you. I'm excited to say dozens of businesses and professionals will be included in my book due to their contribution through groups.
Please share your story in the comments section below where I reference content for inclusion in the book. If your story is selected, I'll be in contact with a release form requesting your permission to publish your story.
If you would like to see over 40 stories already collected please click here to see an earlier posting.
Darcie King - Producer, Owner Evideo Productions
One of our clients used us for one of the most basic video functions - videotaping him giving presentations. Once he started following me on Facebook, I would get phone calls every time I posted a new service we were offering or featured a service that we were looking to develop. He'd call saying "I didn't know you did that!" I find that is very common in business - existing clients not knowing all that you truly offer. Facebook has not only helped me keep in touch with this client, but he now knows all the different types of services we offer and is starting to try a variety of video marketing tools for his business.
Another success story is a relationship that I nurtured with our local "celebrity" - the A-ball team in a neighboring town. It may not seem like much to know the administrative crew of an a-ball stadium, but I have had the opportunity to foster a relationship with this team through social media. This relationship has lead to us cover a variety of events they've held throughout the year at their stadium, giving me excellent regional exposure! One of our latest clients was booked as a result of this exposure.
Stephen Martile, Owner - Freedom Education
I started collecting emails on my blog in 2008. By August 2009 I had 2,500 email subscribers to my Newsletter. Traffic has been great as well as I had 5,000 people visit my blog in a single month this past August and it keeps ramping up mostly because of traffic being sent by search engines. Currently, 40% of my traffic is from Google.
When I first started my blog in June 2008 I was only earning $50 a month. In June of this year I had my first $1,000 month. I even had one of my coaching clients tell me that the reason she signed up for my coaching was because she saw a video of me and thought that I was someone she could trust.
The only thing that I'm doing that is unique is publishing V-blogs (Youtube videos on my blog). I also do a semi-regular motivational mondays segment with video.
I've definitely made some amazing connections using my blog. I've connected with several high profile bloggers (Zenhabits.net and Problogger.net) and even met my current Coach who is teaching me to set goals while I help her setup a blog. We have this great exchange going and I didn't even need to pay her to be my coach. Go figure.

In late 2007, I received an inquiry from a prospect through LinkedIn. After an initial telephone conference call, the CEO flew to my location to meet with me for an interview. He offered me a six-month contract to help him prepare for his new Web site company launch. And all because of my profile on LinkedIn.

One surprising benefit of social media has been the attention I've received from traditional and online media. Two weeks ago I was interviewed for an Entrepreneur magazine story after the reporter began following me on Twitter. I've also been invited to be a guest on numerous radio shows and podcasts thanks to exposure from Facebook. New opportunities seem to show up each week. I've even landed several speaking engagements as a result.
Your book sounds fascinating. Best of luck!
